    • Why Fans Are Not Happy With This Remake?

Disney’s recent announcement that they will be remaking Moana in live-action has sparked confusion and frustration among fans.

Originally released in 2016, the animated musical followed the story of Moana, a young girl on a quest to save her people from a blight that threatened their island. Along the way, she explores and celebrates Polynesian culture, embarking on a perilous journey to return the heart of Te Fiti to its sacred home.

Dwayne Johnson, who provided the voice for the character Maui in the original film, surprised fans with the news of the live-action remake.

Many fans have taken to social media to express their confusion over why Disney has chosen to remake such a recent film in live-action. There has been a mixed reaction to the announcement, with some fans expressing excitement while others feel that a live-action remake is unnecessary. Check out some of the reactions from fans below:

Your announcing #Moana the movie and you haven't even come out with the #MoanaSeries yet?!

Why don't you come out with the series first and wait for the movie to at least turn 10 before you remake it. pic.twitter.com/l7uS3g8tK0

It’s pretty depressing that animation is literally the reason Disney even exists yet they contribute to its disrespect at every given opportunity

Moana came out in 2016. It’s not even a decade old yet. A live action remake isn’t just disrespectful, it’s pointless https://t.co/eWBV0sOvLf

In the beginning, the live action remakes were 45 years apart from the original animated films. Then 30, then 20. Moana is 8 years apart. In 4 years, we'll be seeing original & remake every other year. By 2030, animated original and live action remake will release simultaneously. https://t.co/ONEfF4xSdf pic.twitter.com/ywMdXyhWeL

Is the live action Moana a late April fools joke orrrrrr

    — Lela Von Schweetz (@chelsealela) April 3, 2023

Why tho…? Isn’t it too early?! Moana hasn’t even been around for 10 years yet 🤦🏻‍♀️ https://t.co/9w6FSNjOZi

Seriously Disney, We Don’t Need this, Nor Did we Ask for a Remake of an already successful animated movie, Stop making Remakes. https://t.co/jHIOqmNMMr pic.twitter.com/DlrYGSwHKl

As much as I love Moana, it’s too soon for a live-action remake 🙃

But does the world need a live-action remake of #Moana?

Why Fans Are Not Happy With This Remake?

Disney has been remaking its classic animated movies in live-action form, often with the help of computer-generated effects, and even creating spinoff films based on characters from their existing properties. Among the movies that have received this treatment are Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, to name just a few

However, fans of the 2016 animated film Moana have expressed confusion and concern upon knowing that Disney is planning to remake it in live-action form, despite the fact that the original movie is only seven years old and still very popular.

Moana has been one of the top three most-watched movies on Disney+ in both 2021 and 2022. Additionally, a Moana TV series is scheduled to premiere next year on the same streaming platform.

The new Moana movie will feature all of the original characters, including Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui. However, the actor has referred to the film as a “reimagining,” which suggests that there may be significant changes made to the story.

Given that previous remakes have generally followed their source material quite closely, it remains to be seen just how different this new version of Moana will be. At this point, no further details about the film have been released, so fans will have to wait for more information to come out.
